All Hands on Deck: Qommittee's Pride Month 2025 Prep

As Pride Month 2025 approaches, we're preparing for an unprecedented wave of both celebration and opposition to drag performances across the country. For many communities, Pride represents the only time all year that drag is publicly performed—making it a critical moment for our support network to mobilize.

The threats are real and escalating. In the past year alone, Qommittee has responded to over 25 significant incidents including bomb threats, armed protests, employment discrimination, and venue bans. With the current political climate, we expect even more coordinated attacks during Pride 2025.

That's why we need YOU to take action in three specific ways:

1. JOIN OUR PEER SUPPORT QOLLECTIVE - TRAINING MAY 5

Become a frontline responder by joining our first Peer Support training session:

During this training, you'll learn how to:

  • Identify and document emerging threats against drag performers

  • Reach out to impacted artists

  • Provide emotional support and practical guidance

  • Connect performers with local resources

Requirements:

  • Must be a registered Qommittee member (it's free to join at qommittee.org/join)

  • Commitment to confidentiality and our Qode of Qonduct

  • No previous experience necessary - just a willingness to support our community

2. PREVIEW THE DRAG DEFENSE HANDBOOK

We're compiling the collective wisdom of drag performers who have successfully navigated threats, bans, and harassment into a comprehensive resource.

Click here to see your preview copy and give us your best thoughts on how to make it better!

Help us strengthen this vital tool by:

  • Getting a first look at the draft

  • Providing your own guidance and wisdom for when you're under attack

  • Identifying gaps or missing perspectives

  • Sharing your own experiences and strategies

3. SPREAD THE WORD

Our network is only as strong as its reach. Please help expand Qommittee's impact by:

Remember: Membership is FREE and the basic commitment level requires minimal time investment while providing crucial protection.

Together, we can transform Pride Month 2025 from a moment of vulnerability into a demonstration of our community's resilience and power.
